Welcome to Monkey Valley - a blog where all monkeys are welcome. I decided to start this blog because life has taken a few unexpected turns as I approach 40, and I need an outlet for all of the crap that is inside my head.

I started this new year off today (yes, today is the real beginning of the new year, because today is the day the kids returned to school) with a new 30-day workout on EA Sports Active on the Wii. I worked-out maybe 6 times in 2009 and less than that in previous years (my entire workout plan since I was 13 was playing basketball, and it's just not that fun shooting alone anymore), so today was a big step for me. I never considered quitting during the entire workout, but I did think I was going to have a heart attack after it was over. My goal is to feel comfortable taking off my shirt at the pool during Spring Break in March.

I've also rediscovered my cooking bug a bit recently, and I plan to turn my family's pasta and fast food diet into something more varied, delicious, and healthy. And because of that, I plan to teach the offspring how to properly load the dishwasher.

I have degree in English Education and Library Media, so you might guess that I enjoy reading. I usually have at least two different books that I am reading simultaneously at different paces. I have ADD, so reading one book at a time gets boring.

I plan to discuss each of these three lame topics regularly, along with the many other more interesting things that I think are important enough to share. I look forward to sharing these things with anyone interested.

Boom Shanka,
Mr. M
